CPH:DOX 2025 - Who Witnessed the Temples Fall / Quién vio los templos caer

The line between past and present is blurred in young Spanish filmmaker Lucía Selva's stylish and imaginative debut, which returns to the local myth of the legendary Roman king Chorrojumo. He has been wandering silently through the streets of Granada for one hundred and eighty-three years. Under the burning sun, he waits with raised hand for a coin. The timeless infinity he lives in is interrupted by a young Moroccan carrying an old key in his hands. 

'Who Witnessed the Temples Fall' takes place on the dusty surface of the earth and in Granada's labyrinth of corridors and passages. Between a recognizable reality and a deep imaginary world where a modern excavator rises into the evening sky like a creature from a prehistoric legend. With its beautiful analog images shot on 16mm film, this is a film that uses the medium of imagination to have an almost magical ability to re-enchant the world.
