An elderly widower, Kristofer, is at a crossroads at the break of the pandemic. He has decided to close down his restaurant in Iceland – not only because of the pandemic but also because he knows his health is declining. Urged on by his doctor to attend to unfinished businesses, should he have any – he spontaneously decides to go on a journey – to try to find answers to a mystery that has haunted him for a long time. Fifty years earlier, when he was a student in London, his then girlfriend, the Japanese Miko, vanished without a trace along with her father…
